Hills and Valleys Run (6kms)

Late Saturday afternoon, we will set out from the campsite on a guided 6km run along a scenic route in Lovedale that overlooks Ketti Valley and the Nilgiri Mountain Railway. We will first head east along a shaded tree-lined route and then past tea estates and more and more tree-lined roads until we reach Lovedale Station on the Nilgiri Mountain Railway line. We can stop here for photos before heading further east on an uphill stretch – Grant Duff Road.

Expect to see Ketti valley, clear blue skies, the blue mountains on the horizon and the Nilgiri Mountain Railway train line emerging from a tunnel in the distance.  Also expect significant elevation changes on this 6km run route – you’re in Ooty so rolling hills comes with the territory!

The Hills and Valleys Sunset run ends at Valley View Point – a scenic view point overlooking the famous Ketti Valley. A vehicle will pick the group up here and we will head back to the campsite. You can choose to run back and make it a 12km run too.

Trees and Tea Estates Run (8 kms)

At dawn on Sunday morning, we will set out on another guided 8km run – this time in the direction of the tea estates. Prepare yourself for elevation changes and the heady aroma of tea leaves.

We will head south and make our way across the Nilgiri Mountain Railway line before heading along a mostly downhill tree-lined road passing many terrace farms along the way. We will then head uphill along the outer boundary of the Lawrence School, Lovedale before heading downhill once again – expect to see Ketti Valley again from a different vantage point before we head further downhill and finally find ourselves in a tea estate! A vehicle will pick the group up here and we will head back to the campsite. You can choose to run back and make it a 12km run too.
