GHR Ooty 2017 Medal

Our GHR Ooty 2017 finisher medals will continue our tradition of making local, hand-made, craft based medals (Hampi – Lambani craft, Khajuraho – Gond paintings). These medals are made by Toda artisans, whose embroidery work, also known as ‘Pukhoor’, is handed over generations. It is also GI certified – meaning it can be called so only if made in the Nilgiris.

The medals themselves are being created by Shalom Ooty, a self-help group working since 2005 to enable Toda women achieve some degree of financial freedom. Other products from Shalom Ooty will also be available for purchase at the Bib distribution and on run day at GHR Ooty 2017!
