Taking a trip to Khajuraho? Our friends at M.P Tourism have a few suggestions on where to go and what to see.

DAY 1 in KHAJURAHO: Spend your first day in town exploring Khajuraho’s world-renowned Hindu and Jain temples. They were built by the rulers of the Chandela kingdom back in the 10th century. Over 85 temples are believed to have been built – and 20 remain standing today. Read more about the Eastern, Western and Southern Group of temples here. If you can’t visit all of them, fear not – you’ll get another glimpse of them as you run past them on Sunday!

DAY 2 in KHAJURAHO AND KALINJAR: Wake up at dawn and walk, jog or run past the temples of Khajuraho. Take a moment to stop and stare as you cross them – they’re a World Heritage Site for good reason – the sculptures and masonry have withstood the test of time as well as attacks from foreign invaders over the centuries. If you have the time, do also head to Kalinjar Fort – Located 3 hours north east of Khajuraho, it’s a much underrated but equally impressive fort that was a stronghold of the Chandela rulers.

2 DAY ITINERARY (KHAJURAHO and KALINJAR FORT):
