We’ve received a lot of questions asked about the GHR Khajuraho run routes,  elevation details and sites of significance at Go Heritage Run – Khajuraho and this post has the answers!

Go Heritage Run – Khajuraho: 21K Route

  • Start / Finish Point: MPT Facilitation and Interpretation Center
  • Start Timing: 6.30 AM
  • Route Information:  The 21K route is an out and back route taking runners along the World Heritage Site, through quiet village roads and green fields with the Vindhyas frequently in sight. Starting at the MPT Facilitation and Interpreation Center, runners will head south past the Western Group of Templesand then south through Khajuraho town. The route opens out over to the majestic view of the Vindhyas and takes runners past the Southern Group of Temple comprising of the Duladeo Temple, which is dedicated to Shiva and the Chaturbhuj Temple, dedicated to Vishnu.  The route then takes runners towards the Eastern Group of Temples, comprising of the three Hindu temples- Brahma, Vamana and Javari and three Jain temples of which the Parsvanath Temple is the largest Jain temple in the group. Runners head towards the Khudar river and then head back to the Start/Finish point.

Go Heritage Run – Khajuraho: 10K Route

  • Start / Finish Point: MPT Facilitation and Interpretation Center
  • Start Timing: 6.45 AM
  • Route Information:  The 10K route is an out and back route taking runners along the World Heritage Site, through quiet village roads and green fields with the Vindhyas frequently in sight. Starting at the MPT Facilitation and Interpreation Center, runners will head south past the Western Group of Temples and then south through Khajuraho town. The route opens out over to the majestic view of the Vindhyas and takes runners past the Southern Group of Temple comprising of the Duladeo Temple, which is dedicated to Shiva and the Chaturbhuj Temple, dedicated to Vishnu.   Runners then turn around and head back to the Start/Finish point.

Go Heritage Run – Khajuraho: 5K Route

  • Start / Finish Point: MPT Facilitation and Interpretation Center
  • Start Timing: 7.00 AM
  • Route Information:  The 5K route is an out and back route taking runners along the World Heritage Site, through quiet village roads and green fields with the Vindhyas frequently in sight. Starting at the MPT Facilitation and Interpreation Center, runners will head south past the Western Group of Temples and then south through Khajuraho town.  Runners turn around near the airport road crossing and head back to the Start/Finish point. The Vindhyas will be in sight as runners retrace their path to the Start/Finish point.
